Gabriel Martinelli played well against Liverpool.
After beating Arsenal 2-0 to place his name in the League Cup final, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp paid tribute to Gunners young star Gabriel Martinelli.
Klopp said: “By the way, let’s talk about Martinelli… everyone remember this name. An outstanding player.”
Sharing about the move, Mills told Football Insider: “Klopp wouldn’t say it without reason. If they want Gabriel Martinelli, that’s a bad move. If Arsenal knew Liverpool really wanted someone, they would raise the price. Don’t give compliments and mention it in the press…
You look at all the other players playing in that position at Liverpool, they probably know they need to finalize Mo Salah’s contract extension.
Martinelli has done a great job but things are just beginning. He has a lot of potential, but he has not been consistent. I don’t see the possibility of him going to Liverpool, certainly not in the next few seasons.”
Martinelli has scored 16 goals in 68 games in all competitions over the past three seasons at Arsenal. The 20-year-old Brazilian’s form in recent times has been really impressive, and he has been particularly trusted by Mikel Arteta.
