Ferran Torres’ first goal for Barcelona
Due to poor performance in the Champions League group stage, Barcelona had to go down to the Europa League from the play-off round. Accordingly, their opponent is Napoli. The first leg, the Catalan club is playing at Camp Nou.
Difficulties for Barca appeared when their net vibrated in the 29th minute, after Piotr Zielinski’s accurate finish. Barca showed superiority but lacked the sharpness needed to score.
It was thanks to the mistake of the opponent’s defense that coach Xavi Hernandez’s teachers and students had an equalizer. On the 11m mark, rookie Ferran Torres completed the assigned task.
However, it was Torres who made Barca drop the victory. In a combination with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the first half, Torres had time to adjust but shot wide.
According to statistics, Torres has at least 3 good chances to score, but he is not accurate. After the referee blew the final whistle, according to Marca, Torres put his hand over his face and burst into tears. Teammates as well as opponents must comfort Torres before entering the dressing room.
Clearly Torres has reason to be disappointed. Barca held the ball up to 67% of the time and launched 21 shots but only got 1 goal.
