Man City lacks strikers? Klopp speaks the truth

The German strategist shares his personal views on the recent talk surrounding Citizens.

Behind the scenes: Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City (March 2022)

Victory over Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates helps Liverpool narrow the gap with the top of the Premier League table of Manchester City to just 1 point.

A few days ago, the army led by coach Pep Guardiola was bogged down in the march to Selhurst Park. Dominating the game with outstanding possession time, but the blue half of Manchester could not score even 1 goal throughout 90 minutes.

Jurgen Klopp thinks Man City is just a little bit less fortunate.

After the stalemate goalless draw, many views believe that the defending champion lacks a striker. In an interview quoted by AS, Klopp disagreed:  “Honestly, I don’t like these discussions at all. Talking about Man City as if they lack a striker is a joke. With the way they play . against Crystal Palace, Man City had about 5 or 6 clear chances, it has nothing to do with not having a striker.

Are you telling me that De Bruyne kicked the ball over the crossbar because there was no striker? You can’t open discussions the way you want, as if saying on one hand Man City are the best team in the world, and then saying they need a striker the next. Football isn’t that easy, you can’t just put one striker in the team and then suddenly he’s going to finish all the attacks.”
