Erik Lamela’s masterpiece against Arsenal
Arsenal want to add a striker in January. Mikel Arteta pursues Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic. However, Juventus went above and beyond and completed the purchase of the Serbian player.
This forced the Gunners to look for alternatives. Coach Mikel Arteta confirmed, Arsenal will upgrade the squad after this season ends. And they have already started planning for the summer.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has parted ways with the team, while Alexandre Lacazette’s future is uncertain. In addition, Arsenal is also about to return to the Champions League. That’s why Arsenal need a new striker at the Emirates Stadium.
According to many sources, Arsenal kicked off the campaign to recruit Luka Jovic from Real Madrid. On the contrary, the Spanish giants are said to be ready to let Jovic leave for a reasonable price. According to Transfermarkt, Jovic’s current value is £15 million.
At just 24 years old, Jovic has enjoyed a relatively strange career. Real used to spend up to 60 million euros to activate the blockbuster Jovic when he played explosively in Germany at the age of 20.
Jovic scored 16 goals without penalties and added five assists in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt. This led to interest from all over Europe. Real chose Jovic as the long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. However, Jovic brought disappointment.
In the three-and-a-half seasons since his move to Madrid – including his re-entry to Frankfurt on loan – Jovic has scored just seven league goals and added four assists.
Currently, Jovic returns to Real Madrid. However, this player did not have many opportunities to show off against an excellent Benzema. When the French striker was injured, Jovic was also not used in Real Madrid’s 0-4 defeat to Barcelona recently.
So Jovic is really a gamble. However, that does not mean that this is a wrong deal for Arsenal. From a positive perspective, Jovic is quite young. This is the criterion in line with Arteta’s goal of rejuvenating the team.
Remember, Martin Odegaard used to only play at the Bernabeu but is now the mainstay of Arsenal. And during the boom period, Jovic showed such great potential that Real spent a lot to make the transfer.
What Jovic needs is a suitable environment and a coach who knows how to exploit his potential. Obviously, Arsenal can risk Jovic. £15m is not a very expensive price and Arsenal need to act.
Jovic could explode, revive his Premier League career. Then Jovic will be a bargain. A signature worth pursuing Arsenal in the summer.
