The Southeast Asia Vovinam Federation Conference was just held in Vinh Phuc, with representatives of Federations and Vovinam Associations from 7 countries participating in the Vovinam competition at the 31st Southeast Asian Games, including: Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar and Vietnam.
Also present at the meeting were Dr. Mai Huu Tin, President of the World Vovinam Federation, Master Florin Macovei, President of the European Vovinam Federation, and the new Secretary General of the World Vovinam Federation.
At the meeting, delegates recounted the Vovinam movement in Southeast Asia and the Vovinam movement in various countries. Therefore, members discussed and gave directions for further development of the movement. In particular, members focus on mobilizing Vovinam to regularly participate in each SEA Games.
In order to consolidate the organizational structure, the Vovinam Federation of Southeast Asia has re-elected the operating organization. Accordingly, HE Mong Kimheng, Deputy Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, Chairman of Cambodia Vovinam Federation was elected as the new president of Southeast Asia Vovinam Federation. Master I Nyoman Yamadhiputra (President of Indonesia Vovinam Federation) was entrusted to continue serving as secretary of Southeast Asia Vovinam Federation long post. Mr. Nguyen Binh Dinh, Deputy Secretary General of Vietnam Vovinam Federation, was elected as Deputy Secretary General of Southeast Asia Vovinam Federation.
The five Vice-Chairmen include: Mr. U Ye Myint (President of Vovinam Federation of Myanmar), Mr. Santiharp Intaraphanrtn (President of Vovinam Federation of Thailand), Mr. Vixay Navientiane (President of Vovinam Federation of Laos), Mr. Mariano Michael M. Velarde (President of Vovinam Federation of Philippines) Chairman) and Mr. Bach Ngoc Chien (member of the Vovinam Federation of Vietnam).
According to the agreement among the members of the Executive Committee of the Southeast Asia Vovinam Federation, the country hosting Vovinam in that year’s SEA Games will serve as the chairman of the Federation. The merger of the executive board members of the South East Asia Wovenan Federation marks a new step in the development of Wovenan.
As planned, many international Vovinam events will be held in the near future. In 2022, the Asian Vovinam Championship will be held in Myanmar by the end of the year. In 2023, the SEA Games Money Championships will be held in Cambodia in January with 33 sets of medals.
The most important event is the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia in May 2023. Until August 2023, the World Vovinam Championship will be held in Ho Chi Minh City in August.
